3 simple ways to revamp your digital marketing efforts in 2014
0With the New Year upon us, now is the perfect time to revamp and enhance your digital marketing efforts. In today’s day and age, it’s important to have a strong digital presence and to share relevant content to engage your audiences. Social media continues to grow exponentially with 85% of Internet users on Facebook and 49% on Twitter (these are your customers!). Therefore it is important to connect with both current and potential customers on the networks they frequent to make sure they see the content you share.
Not sure where to get started with revamping your digital marketing efforts in 2014? Here are 3 ways to help you get started:
1. Create a blog
If you don’t already have a blog, we recommend starting one this year. Blogs are a great way to increase traffic to your website, demonstrate your expertise and provide valuable content to your target audiences. Every time you write a blog post, it creates an additional indexed page that tells search engines that your website is active and creates another opportunity to come up in search results. Furthermore, when you write about relevant topics in your industry with your own thoughts and recommendations it will help establish you as an industry expert. Blogging will also provide you with plenty of content to share across your various social media networks.
The lesson – Having a blog helps search engines find you, establishes you as an industry expert and provides you with valuable content to share across your social media platforms.
2. Develop an editorial calendar
With social media constantly changing, it’s critical that you keep up with the changes and remain relevant to your customers. Creating an editorial calendar is a helpful way to plan what you will post on each of your social media networks and blog throughout the month. Be sure to indicate which team member will be responsible for posting each day.
The lesson – Create an editorial calendar that indicates the type of information that should be posted each day and who is responsible for developing that content to streamline your content marketing efforts.
3. Measure your success with analytics
If you don’t currently have analytics in place, you should reconsider. Google analytics is a great option to help you measure your success by providing you with useful information, including: the number of website visitors, the average time spent visiting the site, the percentage of male and female visitors, etc.
Not only does having analytics provide you with information about the number of page views, but it also can give you some insight on who your visitors are. You can learn about where they are from, the type of device they used to visit your site as well as which posts or pages they viewed the most. By knowing more information about your visitors, you can tailor the content you are creating.
The lesson – Use analytics to learn more about your website visitors so you can tailor the content your create and measure the success of your efforts.
