3 ways brands can learn from American Apparel’s Twitter success

0
  • in Social Media

American Apparel has been known for their interesting clothing options and edgy aesthetic, but now they’re also known for their Twitter success. They currently have more than 466,000 followers and have recently released a case study that proves they’re the brand to watch on Twitter.

Here are 3 ways your brand can follow suit:

1. Use Twitter to support your business model

American Apparel produces their product in a short amount of time, and they needed a marketing vehicle that could match that pace. Twitter is a quick way to market your products to a mass audience and can get great results from flash sales or new product launches. Twitter can also be utilized to meet or exceed sales goals. It’s an immediate way to drive sales and awareness, especially at the end of a quarter.

2. Utilize the latest and greatest features

Social media is constantly changing and offering users a different experience. It’s important for brands to stay up-to-date on the latest experience. American Apparel has been taking advantage of Twitter’s new Lead Generation Cards, which allow businesses to register users and their emails for promotions or memberships directly within a tweet.

3. Leverage existing customers

Many say that organic followers are the best followers, and American Apparel agrees. They have increased their number of Twitter followers by 40% in the past two years and they’ve done it primarily by leveraging their existing customers. They used the same sexualized imagery from their traditional advertising, for their Twitter account, and it enticed their customers to start following them. If you stay genuine to your brand, customers will feel more inclined to follow you on multiple platforms.

Twitter success can be measured in many different ways, but if you stay true to your brand and offer content that customers are interested in, the followers are sure to follow.
