It seems to me that the world in general has forgotten how to listen. You can blame it on technology or call it a generational characteristic but many people tend to start preparing their response before the person they’re talking to has even finished their thought. We need to stop and truly listen with more than just our ears. We need to start using our eyes and heart as well. You can understand a whole lot more when you listen with your ears, eyes and heart – and as leaders of companies and brands, we need to be sensitive to our audiences. Take the time to listen and allow yourself to be in the space where the other person is and why it really matters to them. You will be surprised how listening with your ears, eyes and heart will unveil the clearer intention of the other person or audience. This will not only make you a better communicator, but it will help you understand why someone wants to be heard. You’ll hear their “why” by holistically listening.
